Conservation
Emphasis is placed on identifying areas for conservation to develop and implement appropriate and responsible plans to protect our natural resources.
Environmental Management
Involves integrating environmental, economic, and social needs to effectively manage ecosystems processes and functions to accommodate all users in a suitable manner.
Biotechnology
Focuses on understanding plant interactions with environmental factors (biotic and abiotic) using advanced biotechnology tools.
Marine Botany
Focuses on understanding natural processes and anthropogenic pressures affecting coastal environments. These include estuaries, sandy beaches, and rocky shores.
Terrestrial Ecology
Focuses on the terrestrial biodiversity which includes terrestrial flora. The department is ideally equipped for research on terrestrial flora, having superb laboratory facilities as well as a broad range of field research opportunities.
