Prof Janine Adams was recently awarded a Silver medal at the Southern African Society of Aquatic Scientists (SASAqS) conference held in the Drakensberg. Prof Adams, the chair of the society, was awarded the Silver medal at the gala dinner on 1 July. Having been president of the society for the past four years she has handed over the position to the vice-president Prof Nico Smit.

According to the SASAqS Constitution a Silver medal shall be awarded irregularly in recognition of the exceptionally high standard of a specific piece of research in the aquatic sciences or of the exceptionally high standard of a particular contribution to the management, conservation or development of aquatic ecosystems or resources.

Since its inception in 1985 only 8 Silver medals have been awarded.

We are proud of Prof Adams for her latest award.

Congratulations Janine.
